Improv ..... Theater ..... Fine Art ..... Dance Improv Performance Workshop 202 Want to find how far a story can go? We'll explore topics like status and movement, advanced narrative, and genre. Improv 202 is perfect for any graduate of the CTC's 101 or 201 classes, OR any active participant in any of the state's many thriving Improv groups! Ready for more? So are we! Let's go! $125 for entire eight-week course.
Wednesday Workshop Our most popular class, the Wednesday Workshop is a series of open-invitation rehearsals in which we work on basic skills and terminologies by rehearsing short scenes and developing experience on stage. Come with your own material or use what we provide! We explore everything from basic scenework and monologues to advanced acting methods and techniques. Many of our company members regularly stop by too, so it's a fun way to get to know the group! $10 per week, payable at the door. Wednesday Workshop II: Acting Beckett Work with CTC Artistic Director Christopher J. Simpson on the dramatic works of one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century.
Children's Theater Course: Ages 8-14 Theater's magic is accessible at any age, but especially when we are children. Through games, exercises, and rehearsals, students will learn how to experiment and create with theater. The course culminates in an original CTC production! Students will perform in Peter Pan adapted by CTC playwright, Shawn Fennell. $85 for entire course. Directing Course This class will introduce students to several approaches to directing a play. Each director teaches a third of the class in his signature style. The course culminates in a final performance on April 21. $150 for entire course. Theater Skills for Real Life Thursdays, Feb. 9 to March 29, 7:30 to 9 p.m. The CTC Studio at South County Commons For those looking for a more practical approach, there's our new Theater Skills for Real Life workshop, where you can learn practical public speaking skills, confidence, and stage presence through the techniques of theater. $125 for entire course fee.
Introduction to Scenic Painting for Teens and Adults Introduction to Scenic Painting for Teens and Adults is a class intended to train new artists about the basic tools and techniques used by professional scenic artists. Warning: This is not a portrait or landscape class. You will learn how to paint textures, shapes, and faux finishes, and use light and shadow to create images. You will also learn a bit about how the Scenic Designer and Scenic Artist work together to create the set. You will not receive a grade or credit for this class, but you should make the most of it by attending, paying attention, and - most importantly - having fun! $175 course fee.
Contemporary Theater Reading Group Join us to read and discuss works of contemporary theater, their inspirations, and their effect on contemporary, art, culture, and politics. The group is open and free, although a small donation for printing costs is appreciated. FREE (donations suggested) Fine Art Classes for Youth Explore a variety of materials and techniques in our mixed media class taught by artist and certified teacher Allie Hunt. Draw in pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink. Paint in watercolor, acrylic and tempera. Sculpt in both clay and mixed media. Students at all levels are welcome to join! Ceilidh Dancing Grab your friends whip out the shamrocks for this 6-week course in Ceilidh: Irish Social Dancing. A form of dance that contributed to American Square Dancing and English Contra Dancing, Irish Ceilidh is comprised of simple steps which can be used to dance to thousands of songs in hundreds of patterns. Join award-winning Irish Stepdancer Meghan Rose Donnelly for these fun and festive classes and you'll have more than your green sweatshirt to whip out this St. Patrick's Day. $75 for entire course.
